FINE FURNITURE GUILD

The Fine Furniture Guild (FFG) is an independent member organisation established in 2017 by the award-winning Chippendale School to promote the work and expertise of qualified makers who have successfully completed the School’s world-leading Professional Furniture Making Course.

We are committed to shining a light on the work of skilled makers based here in the UK and around the world, and enabling consumers and specifiers to connect with them.

YEARS OF MAKING

Woodworkers have travelled from around the world to study at The Chippendale School for more than 35 years to experience the best of traditional and modern furniture making.

As one of the world’s leading furniture schools, The Chippendale International School of Furniture welcomes students from all over to experience the best of traditional and modern furniture making.

Located just outside of Edinburgh in Scotland, the School operates as a not-for-profit organisation, continually reinvesting into the School and its facilities. A talented and experienced team of instructors and visiting experts provide world-class teaching and offer a learning experience that is practical, fun and career-focused.

Here, students will study furniture design, making and restoration skills, and are provided with the necessary tools to set up, run and market their own business. Successful students become members of the Fine Furniture Guild (FFG) and will have their work promoted online and through social media.

Graduates from the Professional Course can take up residence at the School’s on-site incubator workshop at Myreside Studios for up to three years after graduating, there they will benefit from marketing and operational support to help them set up their own business.

The School’s ethos centres on providing creative and collaborative learning opportunities with the sole aim of equipping all students with the skills to succeed, from encouraging and nurturing creativity to the practical skills required to build beautiful furniture.

The FFG is a not-for-profit organisation and is managed by an independent Board of Trustees. Our role is to help connect makers with specifiers - we do not charge fees to our members or their customers nor do we generate income from commission. The FFG exists solely to promote the work of our graduates.
